Posted: Sept. 6, 2007

Lt. Gov. John Carney's campaign for governor announced today that it has received the early endorsement of six Delaware labor unions, representing more than 12,500 members and their families in Delaware. These first endorsements demonstrate the strong support Carney has from organized labor and working families.

More than one year before the Democratic primary for governor, Carney has received endorsements from the following Delaware unions:

·         Laborers Local 199

·         Teamsters Local 326

·         Bricklayers Local 1

·         Sheet Metal Workers Local 19

·         UFCW Local 27

·         Insulators & Asbestos Workers Local 42

More than one year before the Democratic primary for governor, Carney has received endorsements from the following Delaware unions:

“I am deeply grateful for the early support of these unions,” Carney said. “I believe these endorsements are an indication of the commitment I share with organized labor to work hard every day to build an economy that provides good paying jobs for Delaware families. A strong economy will be Job One in a Carney administration. As governor, I’ll provide the hands-on leadership to work with organized labor and the business community to take our economy to the next level.”
