POLIQUIN: TWO FOR TWO

Wilmington, DEL. --- Republican State Treasurer candidate Ron Poliquin defeated incumbent Jack Markell in two debates broadcast Tuesday on WDEL and WILM radio stations.

During both debates Markell rebuffed an offer to sign a pledge to serve a full term, failed to accept any responsibility for the state's current budget crisis, or explain his failed e-government initiative. In addition, during the WILM debate, Markell refused to reveal undisclosed budget discussions he had with Governor Minner to voters.

"The people of Delaware deserve a State Treasurer who will be open to voters, not another "yes man" waiting impatiently for higher office," Poliquin stated shortly after his victories.

Markell spent most of the debates scrambling to defend his failed record, often resorting to negative personal attacks.

"These debates offered a clear choice for the voters between a candidate who is dedicated to taxpayers and one who participates in typical political games," said Poliquin.
