STATE GOP: SCHNEE’S TENURE AS U.S. ATTORNEY DISMAL

Posted: Oct. 15, 2002

WILMINGTON, DEL. --- The Delaware Republican Party launched another ad today regarding Carl Schnee, Democratic candidate for Attorney General, and his dismal record as U.S. Attorney.

After a 38 year career as a defense attorney for murderers, rapists, drug dealers and out of state insurance companies, Mr. Schnee was appointed to the office of U.S. Attorney – a position he held for approximately 20 months.

The ad campaign reveals that Carl Schnee’s performance as U.S. Attorney was disappointing at best.

“During Carl Schnee’s tenure as U.S. Attorney for Delaware, we saw prosecutions drop across the board,” said Eric Sutton, Executive Director of the Delaware Republican Party. “Gun crime prosecutions dropped almost 50%, drug felony prosecutions went down by nearly two-thirds and white-collar crime prosecutions went down 8%.”

Since Carl Schnee has left the office, prosecutions have increased dramatically.

“His dismal performance clearly shows his inexperience in prosecution was a factor,” commented Sutton. “It is no wonder why Carl Schnee’s tenure as U.S. Attorney was a failure, most of his career was spent defending criminals.”

“Quite honestly, our seniors and working families can’t risk having someone like Carl Schnee in charge of prosecuting criminals.  Our children can’t risk having more drug dealers on the streets because Carl Schnee doesn’t have the experience to put them behind bars,” said Sutton.  Bottom line, Delaware can’t risk having an Attorney General with such a poor track record as Carl Schnee.”
