STATE GOP: MINNER'S SPEECH SQUANDERED CHANCE

WILMINGTON-- In response to Gov. Minner’s State of the State Address, Republican Chairman Everett Moore offered the following statement:

“The Delaware Constitution calls on the Governor to ‘give to the General Assembly information of affairs concerning the State and recommend to its consideration such measures as he or she shall judge expedient.’ It is disappointing to see the opportunity for true leadership squandered on attempts to pad some questionable accomplishments and to pave the way for meager initiatives.

“This is the third State of the State Address this Governor has offered in which she speaks about tough challenges facing the state. I am still waiting for evidence that she is willing to do more than wring her hands and hope for stop-gap measures to keep the status quo.

“For the sake of the citizens of this state, I hope the Governor’s economic address scheduled for next week contains more substance than today’s offering.”

GOP Executive Director Troy A. Brocco had the following response:

“Gov. Minner’s ‘all-talk-little-action’ administration does not address the serious problems facing our state.

“I only hope the people who heard this address realize that until we make a change in a positive direction – rather than just paying lip-service – the state of Delaware will never move forward.”
